Draftsperson
Wiltech Acoustics have a vacancy for a proactive and Draftsperson to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Working to Wilmott Group and all owned companies’ procedures and using bespoke systems in accordance with all quality accreditations ISO9001/ISO45001/ISO14001.
- Adhere to all Wiltech design department standard products and procedures.
- Interact and co-operate with all members of the organisation, its suppliers and clients/customers.
- Weekly chasing of all outstanding approvals.
- Issue GA’s to Structural Engineers, manage this process directly with the Structural Engineer along with support from the Design Manager.
- Work towards deadlines set by the Design Manager to ensure projects are delivered on time to meet the needs of the business.
- Identify, manage and monitor critical path works, process materials and/or suppliers.
- Ensure all timelines are effective and all criteria are met, and any anomalies are to be controlled and reported to the Design Manager.
- Provide weekly project updates to the Design Manager.
- To attend all new/variation project handovers and accept the projects from Sales.
- Research and develop ideas for new products, technologies, components, processes and the systems used to make them.
- Provide technical support to the wider Company to ensure that all aspects of CAD design are created to fully meet the high specifications.
- Taking full ownership in ensuring the success of the project design from inception through to delivery using innovative engineering skills to ensure seamless integration.
- Manage and close out any concerns or problems that arise on projects; ensuring a suitable solution is achieved to maintain project deliverables.
- Regular shop floor visits to the manufacturing departments to support and observe project progress.
- Research concept ideas using mathematical modelling to work out whether new developments and innovations would work and be cost effective.
- Produce design ideas, based on research, into technical plans for prototypes using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-assisted engineering (CAE) software.
- Work with the Production department to revise existing drawings where improvements or efficiencies can be made.
- Control of Bill of Materials (BoM), CAD Models and Engineering Drawings.
- Control and maintain project specific documentation such as the document register.
- Undertake special projects such as research and development as required by Design Manager
Key Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and drafting standards.
- Ability to interpret technical sketches, blueprints, and schematics accurately.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience in a drafting role within the construction or engineering industry is desirable but not essential.
